About Timestamps

Unix timestamp (also known as Epoch time) is the number of seconds that have elapsed since January 1, 1970, at 00:00:00 UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). It is a widely used time representation in computer systems and is timezone-independent.

  • Logging Systems - Mark the time of log entries
  • API Communication - Transfer time information between systems
  • Cache Control - Determine the freshness of cached content
  • Session Management - Track user login and session expiration times
